Holy Icks | Week 1

Small Group Discussion

Opening Question:

Share a story of when someone’s consistent Christian life (not their words) made you curious about Jesus or strengthened your faith.

Key Takeaways: “Be Cool. Be Consistent.”

  1. YOUR WORDS BECOME CREDIBLE: People won’t trust what you say until they can trust what you do.
  2. YOUR WITNESS BECOMES CLEAR: Your life should preach the gospel even when your mouth doesn’t.
  3. YOUR WORLD BECOMES CURIOS: When you’re genuinely different, people will ask why.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What stood out to you most from this message? What made you uncomfortable or challenged you?
  2. We said, “You don’t have to be religious to be a Pharisee. You just have to get in the habit of valuing your image over your integrity.” Where do you see this tension in your own life—caring more about how you appear than who you actually are?
  3. Discuss this statement: “How can you expect others to trust Jesus when the ones who say they trust him aren’t trustworthy?” Have you ever struggled to share your faith because of inconsistency in your own life?
  4. What’s the difference between integrity and perfection? Why is it important to understand that God isn’t calling us to be perfect, but to be consistent in our need for His grace?

Practical Applications:

Choose ONE area where you know you’re inconsistent:

  1. How you treat service workers vs. how you treat people at church
  2. Your patience at home vs. your patience in public
  3. Your generosity with your time/money
  4. Your honesty in small things
  5. Your consistency in showing up
  6. Action Step: Identify one specific behavior change you’ll make this week. Share it with the group for accountability. Example: “I’m going to make eye contact and say thank you to every cashier, server, or service worker I encounter this week—treating them the same way I’d treat someone at church.”

A short bio goes here. And, yes, I mean short. This doesn't need to be a novel. Think of it as your 30 second elevator pitch, but instead of being IRL — it's on the internet at the bottom of your website.
