PASS ON OPPORTUNITIES THAT SHORTCUT GOD’S PROCESS: Not all opportunities are created equal; sometimes the greatest decisions involve passing on opportunities.
PASS ON OPPORTUNITIES THAT REQUIRE YOU TO BECOME SOMEONE YOU PROMISED GOD YOU WOULDN’T BE: What you skip on the way up is usually what ends up taking you down (integrity, healing, humility). Pass on opportunities that require you to become somebody you promised God you wouldn’t be.
PASS ON OPPORTUNITIES THAT DISTRACT YOU FROM YOUR DEEPEST ASSIGNMENT: Resolute focus on God’s calling is essential for fulfilling your purpose. We serve a God who orders our steps, but we live in a world addicted to shortcuts.
Discussion Questions:
In what areas of your life are you most tempted to take shortcuts instead of trusting God’s process, and what might be the long-term cost of those shortcuts?
How do you discern whether an open door is from God or an exit ramp designed to pull you away from your calling?
What promises have you made to God about who you would or wouldn’t become, and are there current opportunities requiring you to compromise those commitments?
The pastor mentioned that what you skip on the way up usually takes you down—can you think of examples where skipping integrity, healing, or humility has led to someone’s downfall?
If you had to articulate your deepest assignment or purpose on earth in one sentence, what would it be, and are your current decisions aligned with that mission?
