Are You Ready To Die | Week 2 | Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff

1.14.2024 | Steve DeFrain | “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff”

Bible Passage:

Ephesians 5:15-17 – 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

“You will never have this day again, so make it count.” – Unknown

Luke 10:38-42 – 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

SOME SWEATY TRUTHS…

(POINT ONE) In the middle of a MIRACLE you will always have the opportunity to get fixated on a MARY

M.A.R.Y. | MINI ANNOYANCES RUINING YEARS |

(POINT TWO) Getting fixated on the small things leads to you being distracted from the best things

Philippians 2:14-15 – 14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.

Luke 12:25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?

Proverbs 19:11 A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

(POINT THREE) The next time you’re tempted to make a big deal over a small thing…

Ask yourself this question, ‘Will this matter a year from now?’ ”

“The key to a good life is this: If you’re not going to talk about something during the last hour of your life, then don’t make it a top priority during your lifetime.” (on video wall only)

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 – 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

A short bio goes here. And, yes, I mean short. This doesn't need to be a novel. Think of it as your 30 second elevator pitch, but instead of being IRL — it's on the internet at the bottom of your website.
