WHY GROUPS?

Our church exists For Those Not Yet Here, and we want everyone to have the opportunity to have a relationship with Jesus. We accomplish our mission by building disciples who love God, love people, and live it out. We only exist to succeed in accomplishing God’s Mission to win lost people, and one way we do this is through Groups.

PURPOSE OF GROUPS

To promote healthy relationships so that people can experience dynamic spiritual growth in the context of community.

OUR MOTIVATION

We believe that you cannot argue a changed life. Life change happens in the context of relationships.

• We believe that as our church grows larger, we must be focused on these smaller areas to grow at the same time.
• Deep community forms when relationships build organically. We want to thank you for your heart to lead others into deepening their relationships with Jesus. We believe Groups are going to help others build true communities that put the love of Jesus on display. Below, please find the Code of Conduct that we expect all leaders to follow. These are reminders to help you be a healthy leader and the best version of yourself! Let’s Go Bring ‘Em Home!

LEADERSHIP HONOR CODE

Serving as a Leader at JRNY Church is an awesome privilege and responsibility. As a Group Leader, you have a responsibility to develop and exhibit mature Christian behavior. This should be the basic premise of your desire to step into a Servant/Leader position at JRNY Church. As leaders, the way we present ourselves to others is of vital importance to the way they will perceive Christ. Our conduct should always be pointing people to the example of Jesus through the truths of scripture.

To that end, and by God’s grace, I commit to:
Submit to the authority of the Scriptures regarding all issues (Psalm 119; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21).

• Pursue Jesus through consistent Bible reading, prayer, fellowship, and practice of Spiritual disciplines (Luke 18:1; Acts 17:11; 1 Cor 9:24-27; Ephesians 5:1-21).
• Regularly participate in the life of JRNY Church by attending weekly services and supporting the mission of the church with my finances and time. (Acts 2:42-27; Heb 10:23-25; Rom 12:1-2; 2 Cor 8-9).
• By God’s grace and through the power of the Holy Spirit, walk in lifestyle holiness as an act of worship to Christ (1 Peter 1:13-16, 4:1-3). Below are a few examples of actions specifically addressed in Scripture:

• I will avoid sexual activity unless married and, if married, complete fidelity within heterosexual marriage. Purity means, among other things, that regardless of my marital status, I will abstain from immoral practices such as adultery, premarital sex, and pornography (Romans 13:11-14; 1 Cor 6:15-20; Eph 5:3,1; 1 Thess 4:1-8; Heb 13:4).
• I will refrain from illegal drug use, drunkenness, gossip and other sinful behavior as the Bible speaks. (Rom 1:28-32; Gal 5:19-21; Eph 5:18; James 3:3-18).
• As a Group Leader I will do my best to avoid being a stumbling block to others. This will include not serving alcohol during the Group and being intentional with my use of social media by not posting pictures of alcohol use. (1 Cor 8:9)
• To do the following when I fail, I will confess my sin to God and to trusted fellow believers for continued accountability.(Rom 8:13; Col 3:5; James 5:16; 1 John 1:6-10). We again want to thank you for your heart to lead others into what a genuine and authentic relationship with Jesus looks like. We know that leading takes time, effort, and commitment on your part, and we are truly thankful for the work God has done in your life that has led you to this desire of helping lead others to experience the same transformation. We are excited to see all that God is going to do in and through you. We believe the best is yet to come!
